I've used the Buddipole quite successfully on 2M.

First was for a century (100 mile) bide ride we do here in Michigan. This
usage is at the far end of the course and over a ridge fro the repeater we
use for the event. The second time I used the Buddipole on 2M was after
Katrina on the Gulf coast. There we had a simplex net (no repeaters)
covering Jackson county, MS.

I use the 16 foot mast and an extra whip with the VeraTee. I wire the
horizontal whips together as the ground plane (sometimes I angle them down
at 45 degrees).
