Thanks, Keith, for the pointer on audio IC U1 on the DSP board. Visual inspection shows no obvious sign of overheating on the IC or the DSP board itself. Will have to find a thermometer with a fine tip probe to measure surface temperature on U1 though - household thermometers I have are too large to fit into that space.
