What are you seeing on your DMM display? Many DMMs show a blank display
for an infinite resistance, while others show a "+" and others show
"OL".
Look at your DMM display when the leads are separated. That is infinite
resistance.
If the display actually shows "0", (same as with the leads shorted
together) then that is a short circuit (zero ohms) that needs to be
investigated.
