I have had my K3s since January. I use it exclusively on CW. Twice in the past ten days, in the middle of a QSO, I can hear nothing when I stop sending. No background noise. No signal. The quick fix is to turn the unit off, then right back on.
There is at least an inch of cooling all around the radio. I haven't ever used it on digital. In other words, I don't think it is a heat problem.
