Using a piece of plate glass and some spray adhesive, you can take sheets of 400, then 600 all the way to eight hundred grit wet/dry sand paper and fix it to the plate glass. That surface can be used to bring up a shine so bright on the key that you can see your reflection in the surface. I might consider beveling the edges on the base and the arms for a more refined look.
