What I have been doing for already-constructed Zip-cord leads with APP connectors already installed is to secure one end of the cable, un-mate the APP housings at the other end, separate the parallel conductors, and twist them together again one over the other as "DIY" twisted pair, then remate the housings. Works fine albeit shortens the cable a bit.
