Hi, Mike, This issue comes up regularly here.
It sounds like this is a new problem with the K3S? Or has it always been like this? There are so many settings that could have changed. You'd have to list them all for us. I assume that you know about the receive equalizer, AFX, and DSP, all of which have an impact on the received audio. Only you can tell us if any of these are activated and if so, to what degree. I couldn't help but wonder... if it sounds like mistuned USB, what happens if you just tune the VFO a little bit lower? Does that change anything for you?
