I had an early K2, reviewed it for NCJ, loved it for a long time, then got an early K3. Instead of trying to sell an old, low-value K2, I gave it to a friend who gave it to a beginner he was mentoring. I felt that was a good home for it and a good use for a radio I no longer needed. Consider this, folks - helping a beginner with a radio might be the best thing you can do for ham radio. Just don't give away a lemon, or a rig that isn't up to spec, to a beginner who might not know what to do about it. Any give-away rig should be accompanied by a squawk list and advice on how to proceed!
