My station took a lightning hit a couple of weeks ago, and I have just finished configuring a new computer with my old C drive.  That all works fine, but for some reason I'm not able to get COM port communication between N1MM Logger and my K3.  I'm using a USB-to-serial cable.  When I open the Config menu, I see COM 11 with an asterisk indicating that it doesn't exist, and COM1 as another option. This seems odd because my setup used COM3 for radio and COM6 for CW keying before the event.

I'm at a loss about how to diagnose the problem.  It could be the IO board in the K3, I suppose (shudder) or the RS232 to USB adapter cable. I can just buy another cable, to rule that out, but is there a way to run a self-test on the K3 IO to see if it is damaged?

As an aside, I have had a KIO3B on order for +/- 2 years, but I don't know when or if that's going to happen. The radio seems otherwise to be fine; I've tested its sensitivity and power output on several bands. I just want to try to dig myself out of this before CQWW and SS.
