In addition to the reply by Jim, be careful if using ready made “audio” extension cables. Many are not screened and will pickup RF.
Even with antennas that are not close to your shack, you can have high RF levels on the coax outer, in turn that means on the case of your KX3. An easy to make RF clamp meter will show if you have these common mode currents flowing on cables into and around your shack.
