Hi Pete - apparently (my guess) demand is high enough that they don't need to capture funds right away.
When your radio is nearing the top of the queue (but not necessarily ready to ship), they'll send you an invoice for payment in full, and your radio will ship shortly thereafter. I don't speak for Elecraft. This is just my own recent experience. In short, they won't bill you until your radio is "just about ready." 73 de NV1B ..
