Hi Jim, Does your K3 have the KXV3 interface or KRX3 subreceiver options installed? If so, I would check the menu settings to be sure that the rig doesn't have the RX antenna port selected as its antenna source and that the subreceiver isn't the primary receiver.
If it's not a menu setting issue, I would remove the ATU and re-install the original KANT3 antenna board, then test again with actual antenna or your signal generator. You mentioned that the K3 sat on a shelf for several months - was it connected to anything or were all cables disconnected?
