I trust you are not confusing sensitivity with loudness.
The K2 is designed for low receive current drain, and as such does not have
a powerful audio output amplifier.
Sensitivity is the ability to hear extremely weak signals, so pick the
weakest signal that you can hear with the TR7 and see if the K2 can also
receive that signal.  You will likely find that the K2 can hear signals that
the TR7 cannot.

The L34 adjustment peak is quite broad.  If you cannot discern a definite
peak, just set the slug 1 1/2 turns in from the top of the can.
