From the beginning, the K3 with the right bandpass module, and now the
K4 work great on AM in USB or LSB mode, and they're stable enough to
zero beat the carrier. I've regularly used them to verify that my
Beverages and RX loops are working. Realistically, since there's almost
nothing but talk on the AM BC band and shortwave BC is increasingly
being replaced by streaming, I'm pretty happy with 5 kHz AF bandwidth.
AND choosing between USB and LSB can often reject electronic noise that
lands on one sideband and not the other, and splatter from stations on
adjacent channels.
