Good Evening,
Propagation on twenty meters was better than last week. QSB was
moderate to deep. ESP to S7 was one report, S3 to S8 another. There
was low noise, which helped with digging. Forty meters had its own QSB,
with a persistent storm in the middle distance. Fall was in the reports.
I was greeted between nets by my first yearly sighting of a
Red-breasted Nuthatch. They are a sure sign of autumn. They normally
eat insects but this time of year they enjoy the many seeds ripening
around here. Bouncing down the bark of a tree gets my attention.
Squirrels can move at an angle, but not straight down; only nuthatches,
creepers, and woodpeckers can do that. Perching birds don't have the
right claws for either motion.
