Hi Dave,

I agree with Luc, F6HJO.  It would be awkward to send CW using the KY command 
string.

I used a homebrew optocoupler circuit fed from the (old) computer's parallel 
port, then upgraded to the RS-232 port, and finally to a MORTTY keying 
interface from the current shack computer's USB port.  The K2 permits one to 
parallel a paddle with the computer's CW keying signal using two diodes on the 
paddle input.  See the Owner's manual for this configuration.  Works great, and 
it allows the computer to send faster CW than the front panel SPEED control is 
set - I use it for contests where I need to manuallynrepeat my exchange at a 
slower speed than the logging program (N1MM+) is set.
