Don't worry Justin, more than a few of us have the very same geekiness problem
;) Somehow or another I got a degree in software engineering and then another
in computer engineering. On a regular basis I use three different number
systems while writing in as many (or more) languages.

Please study CW while you have time on your hands. You'll find by the time you
get back to the 'world' you'll have a leg up on working amateur radio. I may
be a little biased (well maybe more than a little ;) but I find CW engages me
nicely. One day I hope to become a real amateur by designing and building my
own gear.
Until then I remain: Net Control Operator 5th Class.
       GL,
            Kevin. KD5ONS
