Here is one site you might find of interest:
http://www.picotech.com/oscilloscope-specifications-us.html
They don't charge for software, you can download it straight from their site
whether or not you buy from them. There should be a demo version, but I
haven't looked. I will probably use something like this to monitor my house
temperatures when I start fiddling with floor heating.
Have a look on this site at a range of data loggers http://rswww.com then
"loggers" into the search box.
Some charge extra for software, but the loggers are cheap.
It used to be just parallel port connections, but that's mostly upgraded to
USB these days.
Have fun

Hi David,
Could you give us a few specifics on where to find a low cost scope
utilizing a PC (or even better an OS based Palm).
Thanks

For many applications a scope is somewhat limited and a scope-adaptor for
your
laptop / pc offers much more, for a lot less money, size, weight. These
range
from simple to of course expensive. I could start the list of products
with
Pico Scope, but there are now so many and they are very small, eg built
into a 9
pin D plug. A cheap old laptop, better still palm top will suffice for
your
workbench. And you can record the results for later examination.
This is a simplification, but modern scopes seem to be just specially
adapted
pcs.
