Steve, Comgratulations on the long K2 service. Reflector friends: Note that Steve does not disconnect his antenna, but you may not want to 'try this at home' unless you have a lightning protection system like Steve does - Steve's lightning protection is on a par with that used by broadcast stations and is done with a lot of buried copper (Cadweld connected) and many ground rods, a properly installed 'grounding window' in his shack and surge suppressors both at his tower base and at the shack entrance. I have seen it with my own eyes and it is a model to strive for.
