Paul, You will need an adapter for the 706. It uses a 1/4" stereo plug instead of the 1/8" stereo plug used by the KX1. The 706 also needs the plug wired to close the circuit tip to shell, and you will need to turn off the internal keyer in the "Q4 CW PADDLE" Quick menu (press and hold "DISPLAY" for two seconds to activate the Quick menu).
