Derick,

The frequency display during receive will not change when XIT is selected because it affects only the frequency during transmit.

It is as simple as that - if you wish to observe the transmit frequency during receive, you will have to activate RIT (which is what you are doing).

I find SPLIT to be more intuitive than using XIT for exactly the reasons you mention, but YMMV - I use neither RIT or XIT, but prefer SPLIT instead.
