Gary,

If the same problem happens again, try removing the Control Board MCU U6 from its socket, and then putting the IC back into its socket. I had the same problem twice, once a couple of years after building the K2 and again about a year later, although the power level control did not work either. The cause of my K2's problem in both instances was poor contact between one or more of U6's pins and the socket due to 'corrosion', a known design problem with the type of socket supplied. In the end I replaced the socket with turn pin (machined) type.

I took out the control board and checked the solder connections. I re flowed some of them that looked suspect. My K2 is now up and running again.

My K2 #6113 just quit working. I was listening to the 40 meter band and all of a sudden no signal, and no audio. The display works but, the frequency is frozen. The only other control that works is the power level. None of the buttons work and the frequency can't be changed. There are no error messages on power up and it powers up as normal with "Elecraft" and then goes to the frequency. I'm getting ready to take out the control board and have a look. Any help would be appreciated.

I recently had a problem with SSB transmitting just stopping so, I may be related.
