I couldn't resist. I ordered my K3/10 on 3/24/08. The 4 month wait will
give me a chance to sell some gear to pay for it! HI HI!

I am getting the kit with a 2.8 kHz 8 pole filter instead of the 2.7 kHz 5
pole filter.

I also ordered the USB adapter primarily for ease of upgrading the firmware.
My pc does not have a serial port.

Right now I am running an IC-706 with a microHam CW Keyer. It provides rig
control thru a USB port and has CW memories which the 706 does not provided.
It is working great with the DXLab suite of software.

Since the K3 has an internal keyer as well as CW memories I was thinking
that I could use the Elecraft USB adapter for rig control as well as for
upgrading.

Am I mistaken or not?

BTW, I have a complete electronics tool bench and plenty of cable/connector
parts so building things (in theory) is not an issue.

I operate mostly CW these days and down the road I will add either the 400
Hz or 250 Hz 8 pole filter. Maybe even both!

I have a 500 Hz crystal filter in the 706 and it works great. It will be
interesting to see how the K3 DSP features running behind the 2.8 kHz
roofing filter work!

Thanks in advance for any advice and/or suggestions.
