It's a "Front Panel Flash" memory device that's present on the same Front Panel board that carries the MCU.
Wayne has now started to use that memory, offloading some data that used to be in the MCU's memory space to another device. The FPF loader sends a file from your PC to that memory (using a new capability of the MCU).
