I was thinking of an application similar to Kenwood's ARCP-480 as part of
the K3 Utility. ARCP-480 provides PC access to all menu settings in the
TS-480, allowing such things as custom filter configuration and memory
entry. Once you have it configured on your screen, you just dump it into the
480 and your're done.

If something like that is offered as a feature, then it is likely fixed
in place.
Consider that Elecraft has offered the capability to do the same thing,
and you can set it up the way YOU want instead of having to live with
what the manufacturer thought you might like.
