I just updated my KPA100. This update is NOT for the weak at heart. The instructions warn you that you will have to remove components from the PCB. 20 to 24 depending on the level of your board! That's a lot of desoldering! I have worked in jobs that required removing parts from PCBs, so all came out OK, but someone with no experience in removing parts may well let Elecraft or one of the "Builders" do it.
I found the Spare Parts and Mod Kits ordering page very confusing. There is a KPA100MODKT and a KPA100UPKT. Both go for under $20, so maybe this isn't very important, but everything in the MODKT is contained in the UPKT. If you were to do the MODKT first and then order the UPKT you'd have about half the parts left over.
