The very best material for stopping anything from skidding on the radio desk is shelf liner. It seems to be made of a soft rubbery material that has a cross hatch pattern with holes in it. It's very easy to cut with office size scissors. I use it primarily for keys and paddles.
Comes in colors at Home Depot.
