Good Evening (only one day late),
I have been having problems with the phone lines. Seems like some sort of
rolling black out where I get a few hours of connection each day. The phone
company tells me they are waiting for a part, something to do with generating a
dial tone. They have been waiting on said part since February but the failures
are occuring far more frequently now. However, I'll write this epistle in
hopes that I can connect and mail it sometime today.
Last night was interesting. I worked into CT, AZ, ON, AL, FL, WA, and
places in between. New folks and seasoned veterans alike. A couple checked in
with dreams of K3s in their heads while others listed their SNs happily.
Twenty meters had some noise but nothing compared to forty meters. I took a
long walk after the second net so I could hear the trees again. Weather has
been very pleasant the last few days. Today was especially nice as I sat on
the front deck getting buzzed by the hummingbirds. I explained to them that I
was the one who cleans and refills the feeder but they paid no attention to me
except as a target. Maybe I will put bourbon in the feeder next time, that
will get their attention!
On to the lists before the Audubon Society gets upset (read about how he
went 'birding' with his 8 gauge and you'll get an entirely new perspective on
his methods).  =>

If there are any errors in the lists please send me the corrections. If you
have any additions please do the same. Conditions on twenty meters were better
today than they were last week. I was able to work into Alabama for an hour
with about 50% copy. It is always nice to have an extended chat after such a
long and frustrating hiatus. Looking out the window I am seeing clouds piling
up. I can smell the humidity rising; I think a storm is coming in off the
ocean. I keep listening for thunder so I will be warned of lightning but all I
hear is the squirrel bounding across the roof over my head. He takes great
pleasure in teasing me. If I could only convince the cat to get on the roof
things would take a sudden change. But he sticks to rodents who cross his
path. This path is not too wide because he persists in sleeping on the porch.
His rodent morsels are a bit dense if they can't get past the unbelled cat to
eat his food. But I see a pile of tails next to the bowl. Thankfully he does
not leave any extra bits lying around to age!
   Until next week stay well,
      73,
Kevin. KD5ONS (Net Control Operator 5th Class)
