Thanks to all who suggested ideas. I got on the old SKYPE with Dave G4AON this
PM and thru a process of elimination, it appears that I have a problem in my
LINE IN port. I was not getting audio into the K3!! Had all the CONFIGS and
MENUS set right in line with his but no audio going inside the rig.

Remember how I said that it went into transmit mode but no output, well no
audio making into the port and with DATA A being USB mode (in reality), there
was no audio, no ALC, etc. and now power out. However, when I moved the patch
cord coming from the computer to the REAR MIC jack and energized that via the
menus, things took right off. The PTT was actually working fine it turns out.
I realize that the mic jack is probably not isolated from ground but it seems
to work right now and have made several PSK contacts this afternoon at the 10
watt (QRP) level and one was in Argentina on the 40M wire antenna.

So now to actually figure out if it is simply a continuity problem or something
wrong with the I/O board.

Hey, if it was easy, everyone would be doing it!!

Again, thanks to all for suggestions.
