Thanks to Joe and all the others who answered off line. I had put a felt washer on when I assembled the K3 (#911), but there was a second felt washer that was left over. With two felt washers, it is easy to get exactly the tension you want. Somehow I must have missed this in the instructions. Also, by now, I've pretty much forgotten the details of assembling the K3.
