Two K3s would be better than one Dave, but would not give you the automatic muting you need for diversity receive and the benefits of two receivers. With two K3s I think I would want one or both to have two receivers. I am happy with one K3 and two receivers with a couple of Kenwoods for backup, but I would trade a well used TS 850 or a lightly used TS 440 for a second K3 without hesitation
