Richard, Back up to an older K3Utility if you can find it and then save the configuration. After that is done, load the new K3Utility and proceed to update the firmware.
If you cannot locate the older K3Utility, I would suggest that you just update the firmware. The probability that a new firmware load will change the configuration is low.
