Peter, Are you certain you have the correct cables? You refer to a CI-V cable, and that is a designation that Icom uses. The K3 does not have any interface labeled "CI-V" Are you using the ACC connector? If so, what pins are connected to which device. Are you using the RS-232 interface? If so, is the K3 command structure supported by the device you have connected to it.
If you are using "CI-V" in a generic sense, it should not be used that way, and we do not understand how you have the K3 connected for that reason.
