No, you do not need it.  I have an AL82 I am keying right out of the back of 
the K3.  Works fine.  Usually, it is a 12 volt time for keying the Ameritron 
Amps.  I am not sure I would do that with just any old amp, but the Ameritrons 
use 12 volt keying line and not the 130 of the SB Line.

In our day and age it seems that Common Sense is in short supply.  If you don't 
have any Common Sense - get some Common Sense and use it.  If you can't find 
any Common Sense, ask for help from somebody who has some Common Sense.  Is
