Wayne and All: Lots of material here that I agree with. My additions would be:
- NR settings recalled by mode. When switching from CW to SSB, the NR settings from the last time the mode were used are recalled when the NR is activated. Recall if the NR was on or off from the last time the particular band or mode was used and restore the settings when returning to that band or mode. This feature should be selectable from a menu setting. - "Handles" for Speech Processor attack and decay plus a "ratio" and "Transmit AGC/leveler" threshold adjustment. Current speech processor decay parameters sometimes too slow for my voice in some conditions. I can sometimes "punch holes in the audio" when the processor grabs a high syllable and holds on to it too long before releasing. This varies with conditions... In contesting situations you can overwhelm the processor when, for example, trying to grab a multiplier while interlocked with a run station in a multi multi environment. A "ratio" control, implemented with almost all "pro" audio processing gear, would allow the compression ratio to be adjusted for speech speed up to an including an "infinite to one" ratio, effectively making the "compressor" into a "limiter". Since the processor works on the IF modulation waveform, we would then, effectively, have a "RF Clipper", which would be better than a compressor in my opinion. An AGC feature to smooth out levels in modulation, increasing gain when one speaks softly, decreasing it when one speaks loudly in conjunction with the existing "TX Gate" feature. We have similar handles on the AGC for receive... I would like them on transmit as well. - Standard "Pro-Audio" convention equalizer segment frequencies for the equalizer instead of the seemingly random ones currently implemented, as suggested by W4TV in multiple posts in the past. -Lu-w4lt- No virus found in this outgoing message Checked by PC Tools AntiVirus (6.1.0.25 - 6.14000). http://www.pctools.com/free-antivirus/ ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Elecraft@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html
