But those modes are computer generated, and the computer clock can be easily sync'ed with a NIST standard. I don't know why anyone would want to use a free-running clock for anything that requires that degree of accuracy.
The RTC in the K2 or the K3 is intended only for a logging convenience when no other timepiece is available. I cannot believe it was ever intended to be a precision clock standard.
