In my experience with the K144XV in my K3 I can say that I have never experienced the sort of issues that have been described here on the reflector.
In fact I find that the receiver is excellent on 2M FM. (I have no HF antennas in the air at all, 6M and 2M only!) My K3 has spent over 90% of its short life on 2M so far and its pretty good when compared to other radios I have used. I am making contacts with the 6 - 7Watts output on 2M that I did not think possible and the receiver has shown excellent sensitivity. (I do have a 160Watt 2M amplifier to help things along if needed though) My only complaint is that the squelch in FM mode needs to have a faster attack time but apart from that, all is good. DSP bandwidth. On loud (and wider) signals this *can* lead to clipping of high frequencies and the squelch reacting on this with a mute action. In Europe this is less of a problem since we switched to a 12,5kHz lower deviation raster long ago. A solution could be an adjustable squelch tail/hysterises or an additional level-based squelch for such occasions. 73' Paul PD0PSB 73' Paul PD0PSB -- View this message in context: http://elecraft.365791.n2.nabble.com/FM-Demod-Problem-with-K3-K144XV-tp5231923p5233758.html Sent from the [K3] mailing list archive at Nabble.com. ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Elecraft@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Elecraft@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html
