I have two deep cycle batteries kept topped off by about 60 watts of solar panel and a FlexCharge NC25 charge controller. Usually one battery is on charge while the other is in the shack (or field) powering the K3. During Field Day operation and longer contest periods at 100 watts, 50% RX/TX, the battery voltage has never dropped below 11.5 volts from a fully charged condition. In intermittent service (2-3 hours daily) the battery easily lasts for more than a week, often two before requiring a charge.
