A YES/NO vote is used first since number vote ranking shows only relative relationships on a N or Percentage positive- neutral- negative scale. Positive Neutral Negative 0, 1 or more 0, 1 or more 0, 1 or more YES/NO is used because executive/judicial candidate elections are no different than a public issue election-- an issue (i.e. law) obviously should not pass unless there is a majority YES for it. Minority YES choices are removed early to shorten the below head to head math (especially for 3 or more YES majority choices in a circular tie case). Back to rank number voting head to head basics- elect N choice(s) TW = Test Winner(s), TL = Test loser, TOL = Test other losers TW (N) TL (one) TOL (remainder) A B C, D, etc. Make all A, B, C, D, etc. combinations (standard matrix table). A TW will defeat, tie or be defeated by a TL after the first choice votes from the TOL go to a TW or TL. 1. If a TW defeats each TL, then it is a Condorcet Winner (CW). 2. If a TW is defeated by each TL, then it is a Condorcet Loser (CL). 3. If a TW defeats, ties or is beaten by 1 or more TL, then there is a circular tie (CT). The choice with the highest head to head defeat (using margins) shall lose. Repeat, if necessary, until N choices remain. Clones especially will be defeated (starting with the highest clone)-- C= 100 percent clone of B 35 ABCD 34 BCDA 31 DABC 100 A>B, B>C, B>D, C>D, D>A 100 BC 0 (margin 100) A minority will rank its greater perceived evil(s) last or near the bottom- resulting in a compromise choice after the minority choice(s) and such evil(s) lose. Majority (compromise and evil part(s)) > Minority Minority + Majority compromise part > Majority evil part(s) (new minority) The reverse of the above is obviously which one choice should lose if there are multiple choices. Note- If 2 or more (M) executive or judicial officers are to be elected, then there are M effective votes on each ballot in the head to head math. Note- A YES/NO vote in legislative body elections would provide some more information as which party or parties get majority support.
