Wi With Approval, or any other method, if voters want to optimize the election result for themselves, a rich party could run lots of really odious candidates, and if they have a chance to be frontrunners with that party's moderates, and if the merit difference is sufficiently great between abominables & moderates then people could be given strategic motive to vote for that party's moderates, and one of them could thereby gain election. Not an Approval problem. Any method that has any lesser-of-2-evils problem. VA doesn't have that problem. Approval has it some. Margins has it worse than Approval. IRO has it worse than Margins. But that isn't the rich parties problem. Rich parties is about count rules that automatically give it to a party because it adds candidates. Copeland & Dodgson are like that.
