I am quite new to LTSpice and as I was going through Prof Jacob
Baker's video lecture even in chapter 1 examples,
I have some issues in understanding the SPICE Deck.
I hope someone of u can clarify to me the following with respect to
the Figure attached:
1. The independent voltage source is written as:
VGND GND 1 DC 0
As per my understanding the independent voltage source spice is
described as
Vname n+ n- DCvalue
I have not used a SPICE program in quite some time, but I think there
should be a space between DC and value. I think that is probably the
description used if you where using a SPICE program like PSPICE or
HSPICE. For LTSPICE, the description looks to be slightly different.
In the LTSPICE IV manual [on page 163 at
http://ecee.colorado.edu/~mathys/ecen1400/pdf/scad3.pdf ], it has:
Vxxx n+ n- <voltage>
The difference seems to be that is not necessary to specify for DC, such
that it looks like the "DC" part in the spice code should be dropped.
But in the figure, GND is not indicated and the DC value is 0
I think GND is indicated in the figure by the GND symbols. And yes, you
have in the spice code of the figure that between the nodes GND and 0,
there is a DC value of 0. I believe GND and 0 are the same node, such
that it should make sense that it should be 0 unless you want to float
the ground node at a particular voltage.
2. what dies *.options post mean?
I think the ".options post" is a description that is only needed for
HSPICE, and the "*" in front changes the line into just a comment so
that it does nothing [
http://comments.gmane.org/gmane.comp.cad.electric.discuss/164 ].
Hope that helps, and good luck.
