Maybe the "lay out a poly1–poly2 capacitor and an RC circuit" video can
help. Have you watched it? It should be at:

Hello All,
Having some troubles with utilizing the poly1-poly2-capacitor in
layout. My issue is that I can not seem to connect to the bottom (or
top?) plate of the cap in layout.
After searching the group, I found this post:
https://groups.google.com/forum/#!searchin/electricvlsi/poly$20cap%7Csort:relevance/electricvlsi/GXUSqCM3OYw/Xm0jUN4nXtUJ
I picked through the files that were being used in this thread. They
do seem to make a connection to both plates of the cap (from the
dotted white lines in layout), and they do not seem to be shorted.
However when I try to replicate this myself, I just short the wires
together. They also mention that the design is both NCC and DRC
clean, but thats not what I was seeing.
Does anyone have any advice on how to use the p1-p2-cap properly in
layout? any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
Steve
