They seem to be either aware of existence of a newer version, either intentionally providing a malformed installer, or completely unaware of anything at all. Providing only an i386 .deb in some dropbox is weird at least.
Press team actually consists of 1 person and they seem to be very busy IRL; moreover, they can't pursue each and every newsblog out there. So if you see cases like this and the action is clear - Just Do It. -- shnatsel
