No, not necessarily. New instances only get added to the persistent
storage when they are of indexed classes. Otherwise you need
an explicit ADD-TO-ROOT.

To clarify, the slot values are immediately stored to the database, but if you don't add the object to the root, then it becomes 'unreachable' unless you've enabled class indices, as Leslie says above.
