That is exactly, how I'm using it. Got power to SSD from J2 jumper
http://www.elinux.org/Minnowboard:MinnowMax#Power_Connection_J2_.28SIP2_FAN.29
Only +5V (red wire) and ground from SATA power cable is used for SSDs.
J2 should be fine up to 1A current loads ~ 5W. It should be fine for
most SSDs except of largest ones (eg > 480GB).
Ideally consult values from your particular SSD datasheet.
For brief overview among some SSD types, you can for example check
review at Tom's HW with nice chart at bottom..

When I started, I just got a SATA cable and used a normal drive. There is a 5V
power connector on the corner. That got me started cheap.

Thanks Michael for your very fast reply.
The board seems good, and the price is correct $50. But shipment to France from
Technodisti is $95, twice the board price.
So I’ll wait some time
Thanks again

I’m using the Lure with a solid state drive without problems. I got

Hi,
I use a MinnowBoard MAX with a 2.5" SSD.
The disk is in a box with USB 3.0 output and connected to the MNB USB 3.0 port.
I would like to know if there’s a board which can be connected to the PCIe
connector located at the bottom of the bord.
This board should have a SATA connector for plugin the disk.
My goal is to use the minimum space, and put the two boards in a case. An other
one is to free the USB 3.0 connector.
I use the MNB as a small fanless server at home.
I’ve thought of using the SATA connector, but the cable would take too much
space, and I would have to solve the power problem.
Do you know if such a board exists. I’ve found one (lure), but it seems to be
for the MNB V1.
Thanks in advance
