Ok I did what you said, restarted atieventsd via ssh and hit
Ctrl+Alt+Backspace - this did not do anything. I had to Alt+F3 to drop
to runlevel 3 at which point I did startx. I received the same seg fault
error as before. You can find the relevant log here:
