You are perfectly right, the initscript should be converted to systemd
format. But since so far my interest in EL7 is close to nil... this
will have to wait, at least until someone helps with the conversion or
systemd drops support for the older format
Incidentally ATI provides a startup script which also uses the old format.
At least for me it seems stable on my end.
Good to know and thanks for the feedback. If only I'd understood why on
Dominic's system Xorg segfaults with SIG11...
