I've done some searching, but haven't found anything on this topic yet.
I have a newer workstation with the Intel I219-LM network controller.
The included Intel driver does not support it. I found the elrepo DUD
package that includes the current e1000e module. Used that to get the
nic working for the kickstart install.
But now when the OS loads, it keeps loading the system default version
of the module.
[64.707908] e1000e: Intel(R) PRO/1000 Network Driver - 3.2.6-k
# modinfo e1000e
filename:
/lib/modules/3.10.0-1168.42.2.el7.x86_64/kernel/drivers/net/ethernet/intel/e1000e/e1000e.ko.xz
version: 3.2.6k
The kmod-e1000e package is installed:
# rpm -q kmod-e1000e
kmod-e1000e-3.8.4-3.el7_9.elrepo.x86_64
/etc/depmod.d/kmod-e1000e.conf is in place and looks right.
What am I missing? This is my first time needing to use a kmod package
replacing a system driver, so I may be missing a step.
Thanks,
- Steve
Have you rebooted to have the new driver take effect?
Nick
