I am an experienced Windows desktop/server user/administrator and unix user, but not administrator. Free is a good price and I'm in no rush to line BGs pockets, so I thought I'd give linux and myth-tv a try for a home file server and PVR. I've setup a new pc with AMD Athlon 64 X2, plenty of RAM and two SATA-2 300GB drives. The flavour of linux started as Ubuntu and is now Kubuntu. I have a Leadtek WinFast TV USB II Deluxe tuner. It works fine in XP, but after a month on and off, I cannot get it to show me a TV channel in linux. I am close to throwing in the towel and buying in to the dark-side, Windows MCE. It appears to be installed correctly looking at lsusb, lsmod and dmesg. 'video0' permissions are '-rw-rw----', but via command line (despite BGs best efforts, I don't fear the command line) or numerous TV/video apps I cannot get a TV channel. What have I missed? Where should I be looking for problems? Any help much appreciated before I sell out.....
