Janne Thank you for your response last week regarding the tuning question I had asked. I have done some additional work and have the problem more tightly identified. I have also used two tuners and the results are the same.
I am using a Hauppauge 950 USB tuner on OpenSuSE 10.2 with a 2.6.18 kernel. I am using the SVN version of MythTV 14082 and the "stable" version of the em28xx driver. The problem I am having is that I cannot tune from a domestic ATSC station to an NTSC station. I can tune from ATSC to ATSC. About 15 seconds after I try to go from ATSC to NTSC I get a message "that I should have gotten a lock..." When I am setting up the system I pick the NTSC capability as a "child" selection on the "dvb" capture card selection screen. I am able to scan separately for ATSC stations, then for NTSC. If I set the tuner up for ATSC stations I can change stations properly. If I set the tuner up for NTSC stations I can change these stations properly. One other thing I noticed is that the NTSC volume is much lower than the ATSC volume. I am not specifically selecting any driver, I build the driver and let it "autoload". When I plug the tuner in after Linux is running, then do a dmesg, there is a stack of success messages from the device detection and driver loading. I would be happy to send you any listings or traces you might want to understand and fix the situation. Thank you in advance.
